Superintendent Multi-Family
Site Superintendent — Wood Frame Multi-Family
Kamloops, BC | Full-Time, Permanent | Housing provided for candidates relocating to Kamloops
The Opportunity
Haystack Recruitment is hiring on behalf of an established BC Interior general contractor with a long track record in market and non-market housing, commercial, and industrial construction. They’re looking for an experienced Wood Frame Superintendent to take full site ownership of a 45-unit multi-family residential build in Kamloops.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who runs a clean, safe, well-sequenced site and holds trades to a standard. You’ll be the one making the call on site every day, backed by a project management team that knows what field leadership actually needs.
What You’ll Do
- Own day-to-day site operations for the 45-unit wood frame project from foundation through occupancy and deficiency close-out
- Build and drive the short-interval schedule; sequence trades, identify slippage early, and keep the critical path moving
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers daily — scope clarity, manpower, material delivery, and site access
- Enforce the safety program on site: toolbox talks, hazard assessments, site orientations, inspections, and incident reporting in line with WorkSafeBC and COR requirements
- Manage quality control through each stage — framing, envelope, mechanical/electrical rough-in, and finishing — with an eye on the details that show up in warranty
- Read and interpret drawings and specs; flag conflicts, RFIs, and design issues before they become change orders
- Maintain accurate daily reports, site documentation, and photo records (Procore)
- Coordinate municipal, engineering, and building envelope inspections
- Work closely with the Project Manager on cost, schedule, procurement timing, and client updates
What You Bring
- 5+ years as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent on wood frame multi-family projects (4-storey and up preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of wood frame construction methods, BC Building Code, and building envelope requirements
- Proven ability to schedule and coordinate a full trade stack and hold subcontractors accountable without burning the relationship
- Solid safety leadership — Construction Safety Officer training, First Aid, and Fall Protection tickets are assets
- Comfortable with construction management software (Procore an asset) and standard site documentation
- Red Seal Carpentry ticket, Gold Seal certification, or a construction management credential is an asset
- Valid BC driver’s licence
- Clear, direct communicator who can work with owners, consultants, and city inspectors as easily as with trades
What’s Offered
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Comprehensive extended health and dental benefits
- Vehicle or vehicle allowance, phone, and laptop
- Housing provided for candidates relocating to Kamloops for the role
- A stable pipeline of work — this isn’t a one-project position
- A family-run company culture where the field team has a real voice and your work is recognized
