Our client, a company that specializes in commercial and industrial general contracting and construction management, is seeking a Project Manager – Commercial/ Retail Construction for a full-time role in lower mainland Vancouver, BC.

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

 

  • Oversee project management, including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, quality management, and risk management, etc.
  • Managing project teams, including maintaining all project documentation such as work progress, project scope, issues, progress billings, etc.
  • Ongoing preparation, monitoring, and updating of project schedule
  • Co-ordinate, prepare agenda and chair client, trade and team project/site meetings
  • Liaise and manage relationships with the project team, vendors, client representative, consultants and trade contractors
  • Project tracking and reporting
  • Working with superintendents to mitigate risk, safety and workforce issues
  • Review and approve vendor payment requests
  • Manage closeout of projects, ensuring completion of all deficiencies and resolution of any outstanding construction or client items
  • Implement and ensure safety standards are met and within compliance of company and regulatory standards.

 

Experience and Skills Required:

 

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of construction experience in a Project Management or a related position in the commercial and retail construction industry
  • Post-secondary education/training in engineering, construction management or relevant experience
  • Experience managing multiple projects and project teams, including schedule and financials
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract requirements, specifications and drawings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Project
  • Ability to work closely with Operations Manager, Superintendents, trade partners, stakeholders office staff
  • Good understanding of building drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills are critical, along with exceptional time management and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all teams and levels in the organization
  • Valid driver’s license
