Highrise Superintendent
Haystack Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading general contractor specializing in high-quality multi-family and high-rise residential developments across Canada.
We are seeking an experienced Highrise Superintendent to lead and drive a significant high-rise residential project in Calgary. As a key member of the field operations team, you will lead and direct the site team to manage all aspects of on-site operations, quality, safety, and schedule delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, providing regular updates including field reports, safety inspections, staffing needs, and schedule progress.
- Oversee subcontractor performance with respect to safety, quality, and scope of work.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet safety, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Identify and communicate design deficiencies, schedule risks, delays, or other project issues promptly.
- Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions, and change notices to ensure proper execution of scopes, terms, and conditions.
- Supervise and direct trades and labourers through clear instruction, ongoing communication, and constructive feedback.
- Support the Corporate Safety Officer and head office to maintain full adherence to safety policies by all employees, subcontractors, and contractors on site.
Requirements:
- Minimum five years of experience as a Superintendent with a general contractor, including hands-on experience with high-rise or multi-family residential projects.
- Strong track record of successfully leading projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with field teams, clients, stakeholders, and trade partners.
- Demonstrated success in leading and motivating site crews of varying sizes and complexities.
- Ability to foster a positive, accountable, and reliable site culture.
- Red Seal in Carpentry or equivalent trade certification is preferred.
